One of them, when he saw he was healed, came back, praising God in a loud voice. He threw himself at Jesus’ feet and thanked him – and he was a Samaritan. Jesus asked, “Were not all ten cleansed? Where are the other nine? Has no one returned to give praise to God except this foreigner?” Then he said to him, “Rise and go; your faith has made you well.” Luke 17:15-19
This is a snapshot of life. 10 people. 10 blessed by Jesus. 9 ignore it and get on with their lives. 1 falls at Jesus’s feet and offers his life. Just one. 10%
How come? All had called out to Jesus. All had received the same healing touch. Why, then, did only one engage with Jesus?
I guess he was the only one who believed that Jesus had been the channel of his healing. The others had just cried out to Jesus in desperation as a beggar randomly calls out to any passer-by who will listen. When they were healed, they couldn’t believe their good fortune and went on their way for a celebratory drink. The one reacted in the only way anyone could on realising that the Creator Himself has entered their life. He bowed down and worshipped Jesus.
Who is the source of blessing in my life? Lady Luck or the Lord of Lords (Revelation 19:16)?
If I reckon the former, I’ll adjourn to the pub for a knees up; if the latter I will return to Jesus on my knees.
Lord Jesus, if I will but open my eyes, I can see Your hand at work all around me. I fall down at your feet and worship You. For You are King of kings and Lord of lords. Amen
