Day 130 – Just Ask!

While everyone was marvelling at all that Jesus did, he said to his disciples, “Listen carefully to what I am about to tell you: The Son of Man is going to be delivered into the hands of men.” But they did not understand what this meant. It was hidden from them, so that they did not grasp it, and they were afraid to ask him about it. [Luke 9:43b-45]

At first sight, it seems strange that Jesus makes a statement which the disciples don’t understand because, we are told, it was hidden from them.  Huh? But the following phrase points towards a key to unlock this conundrum and Jesus makes it explicit a little while later: “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.” [Luke 11:9,10]

Prayer:

Father God, there is much about the Kingdom of God that I struggle to grasp. Draw me to Yourself, the source of all knowledge, that I might ask and, through Your revelation, better understand. Amen
