Day 123 – The Most Important Question

Once when Jesus was praying in private and his disciples were with him, he asked them, “Who do the crowds say I am?” They replied, “Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, that one of the prophets of long ago has come back to life.” “But what about you?” he asked. “Who do you say I am?” Peter answered, “God’s Messiah.” [Luke 9:18-20]

Who do you say that I am?” The most important question any one of us will ever have to answer.

Jesus, Son of God, Who came into the world as Messiah, the One chosen by God to be a bridge by Whom, through His death and resurrection, all who would believe in Him as Saviour and Lord might be restored to the intended intimate relationship with God as their Father … forever.

That’s my answer. What’s yours?

“Who do you say I am?”

And of course it’s not a question to be answered just by words. I must respond with my whole life. Which triggers the thought: how will the belief articulated above influence what I do today?

Father God, thank you for Jesus, the bridge by Whom I can come back to You. Amen.
